Baby Sprinkle for Basnett Boy #2

https://www.facebook.com/BabySprinkleCelebratingBabyBoyBasnett

Above is a link to a virtual baby shower for Basnett Boy #2.

My sister, Megan and best friend, Stefanie have joined forces to help celebrate this new little one coming into the world.

They have asked me to share this link with close family and friend who I would like to "invite" to my shower. My blog is shared with just those people so I thought I'd share here as we'll as fbook.

If you do not have Facebook, this is how it will work. My registry is posted on a fbook page where the guests can click on a link and purchase gifts for the baby. The gifts will be shipped directly to our home where I will take pictures of us opening the gifts and post the pictures here and on the fbook page. They will also be having virtual shower games as well but that will be exclusively on the fbook page.

My registries are at target and amazon. You can search for my name and find them there easily.

I am so thankful that I have these wonderful ladies in my life to do this and who think it is important to celebrate every baby! :)

Hope you all can "join"!

Pregnancy update: 25 weeks down 15 weeks to go

I wanted to update you all on the pregnancy. Alot has happened this week. First of all, baby and I are doing fine. However, I did not pass my glucose test and have gestational diabetes. I was very sad and frustrated to begin with but I have an awesome dietician helping me and support from lots of people.

This pregnancy has been difficult. At about 15 weeks I was diagnosed with symbiosis pubis disfunction (pain in bones very low). I have also had pain in my hips and lower back, lack of sleep, heart racing when I'm resting, high blood pressure and dizzy spells. These symptoms along with bed rest the first trimester, keeps me from exercising. It hurts to even walk. I have gained quite a bit of weight. The doc was not concerned but said i shouldn't gain more than 10lbs the rest of the pregnancy. I'm happy to report that the lack of sleep, dizzy spells and racing heart have seemed to calm down a little bit since being diagnosed with GD and changing my diet. I hope these symptoms continue to improve.

I monitor closely what I eat, how many carbs I take in and my blood sugar levels. Surprisingly, I'm having a hard time getting enough carbs in which causes my sugar to drop. I check my levels five times a day and they have ALWAYS been under 80. Diet is working well so far. I hear it gets harder as pregnancy goes on.

I'm feeling LOTS of movement these day. Little guy is very active. He was the most active when I completely passed out at my 3hr glucose test. The lab workers were commenting on how much my belly was moving.

I think that the hardest thing for me to deal with is admitting that my body doesn't handle pregnancy well. I wanted to be one of those glowing women who felt better during pregnancy! I tried so hard to be that woman, but I'm not. I'm ready for this to be over and to never do it again. Which makes me more than a little sad :(

Maybe adoption is in our future?!?? Never know!

For now here are some pictures to leave you with.

Baby brothers room is going to be all light colors on the wall and furniture with fun color decorations. We're going for a vintage toy color scheme. Here is the humidifier I got today. This was the first gift purchased from the registry.
I am thinking of using this fabric to make curtains for the room.  Either way this shows the color and vintage theme I was talking about.
I haven't posted any bare belly pics anywhere yet so this is the first. Luckily I didn't get stretch marks with River and none yet with this one!

Las Saturday Todd sent me out to get a pedicure! It felt amazing AND I'm not swollen yet. Woo hoo!

Well that's all for now friends! Happy early Mother's Day to you all.

Basnett Family Vacation 2013

Our summer vacation is planned!  We will be traveling over 1000 miles in just the state of Colorado, hitting all of the "tourist" locations and staying at RV sites in our pop up camper!  We were (ok, I was) a little surprised at the cost, but it is going to be the camping trip of a life time.

All of our campsites have WiFi so we are hoping to blog as we go.  We are SO EXCITED!

Water beads

Just wanted to share a fun activity. We've been doing a unique activity at least three days a week but this one got a lot of questions on fbook so I thought I'd share.

I found these water beads at the dollar tree. Each packet was a dollar so I paid $4 for this activity. They are nontoxic and a great sensory activity for little ones. However,   You just put them in water and they grow into these slimy "bubbles" of wonder!

They are extremely entertaining, even for adults. ;)

After the sat for about an hr they were so much bigger! I don't know why, but Riv thought it was so fun to put his face in the bucket.  I bet it felt squishy.

That's my quick blog for today. Hope you all have a great week!
